Seanan McGuire Bibliography
Sep. 20th, 2020 06:57 pmHi Seanan McGuire Fan's,
I am here today to share with you a spreadsheet of Everything Seanan McGuire Has Ever Publish (I Hope).
Link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nMLUtl1t-7S3SK_Qj7Jj_b6ZekmR5Uch2ly_gyzUNTo/edit?usp=sharing
Some notes on the Spreadsheet:
This was created for myself, which means it's very idiosyncratic, but I though it would be helpful to share.
The big this is weird thing in in the spreadsheet is Universe. This is mainly so I could have an in Universe chronological order for re-reading. All series, as well as repeating characters in short stories have a Main Universe (October Daye, InCryptid, Fighting Pumpkins, Ect). If there are side stories the get a Secondary Universe (Jonathan & Fran, Alice & Thomas). The Position is for the stories in Secondary Universe. Where in the main story line the Secondary Universe stories should be read is in the Note section. Some of the Novella's are including in one book, but chronologically take place after a different one. That information is included in the Note section.
The first place any short story was publish is in Anthology column. Second place a reprint column. Collection is for single author Anthologies.
A lot of stories are missing the exact date publish, because I'm currently to lazy to track down. I might do that later.
I didn't create a Novella Category for my own sanity. Super loose, but if it got published as it's own physical item its with Books, if it's Digital only / bonus on something else its with Short Stories. Essay means anything non-fiction (Introductions, forwards, Ect.)
Comics: Individual issues just get Series Name and Issue Number, no individual title. Any trade paperback (TPB) with even one issue gets listed, but I will note when it's an Anthology. Not keeping track of Variant Covers.
Even if it is available legally (Magazines, Her website, Patreon) on the internet I didn't include a link because searching "title" + publication should track it down, except for Fed because that was more blog post that got buried on Orbit's site. (Edit) There are links now.
I do plan on updating this with new stories and am hoping to be together enough to create a change log for updates.
Something wrong, something missing? Please let me know. Best way to contact me is injoketaken @ gmail . com. Second best is either my dreamwidth (in_joke_taken) or tumblr (injoketaken).

Mar. 20th, 2011 03:56 amFor you my darling at our ending:
I will cut my self open and pull out the parts that have you in them,
for they belong to you and always have.
They were once the brightness of my life,
but now they rot,
and threaten to take over the parts of me that you had not touched.
(So few as they are).
I will keep the scars as reminders of what you were in my life.
Please believe me when I say I am not sad.
For I feel joyous at the memories of the moments we had together;
and I have cried my eyes out our ending.
But I move on now to the beauty that is my future
and I look forward to viewing the scars that you leave
with a nostalgia that comes from only the most loving of moments.

Oh TV People how I hate you
Jun. 24th, 2010 08:07 pmWell not really hate, but still.
So there is this one building that anything that is set in San Francisco visual name checks. The stupid triangle building with the out juts. Which I actually liked... The first 20 or 30 times that I seen it. Now I understand the whole most things are shot in LA and they need a way to pretend that that fact isn't true, but still Every Single Thing set in SF gets that shot, and the exact same winding around it. Not even the Golden Gate Bridge gets visually name checked like that.
But Why am I so annoyed now you might ask? Because Even star trek: voyager, which is set 400+ years in the future does this. That's not even realistic in a Sci Fi way.

Mar. 28th, 2010 03:29 amFor meme's to do (because when you can't do anything else you do meme's) and this is the first one that I've come across that I wanted to do. (Incidentally if there is a meme that you want to see me do / you think I would like, send it my way.)
( My Interests Collage! )
So, this is actually missing Benny and Joon, and I was severely annoyed by the photo's available for the terms Anime and Manga being sexual pics of women, but overall I like it.
Edited to Announce: If you would like to see me meta about something (fandom, real life, whatever) go ahead and prompt me. I really am looking for something LJish to do.

Fic: Music When The Lights Go Out
Aug. 31st, 2009 08:57 pmTitle: Music When The Lights Go Out
Author Name:
in_joke_taken
Pairings/character: Josh/Sam, Cameo of CJ
Rating: PG/PG-13
Word Count: Total 3009, individual varies
Warnings: None
Disclaimer: I don't owe it.
Summary: Scenes from the life of Josh and Sam, Idiot Boys (In Love).
Authors Note: For
tww_minis challenge to write a story for each song on an album. Without even realizing it I picked Otis Redding's 'The Dock of the Bay'. As Otis Redding is quite possible my favorite singer of all time, I think every one should give him a try. The title though is the title of a song by The Libertines, which is a very beautiful song, even if it doesn't fit the feel of the drabble cycle.
The stories are in chronological order of the relationship and not the order the songs appear on the album.

Watching a new show: Bones
Aug. 12th, 2009 07:14 pmSo I'm watching Bones. What made me watch it after 4 years and at least one urging from a friend? I was at my moms friends house and while they were talking a Bones marathon (or something) came one and in it was the episode were Bones and Booth go to Vegas. There's a scene in it were Bones is playing some card game, and winning by counting cards, Booth comes up to her trying to get her to leave and she starts explain to him, in front of the dealer, how easy it is to win; all you have to do is count cards. Booth starts getting nervous and tries to get her to stop. She of course, doesn't' understand why he's nervous about her talking about how she won.
Why did this get me interested enough to at least rent the DVD's. I remember reading a meta essay once about why all the eccentric genius in media were men. (I'm sure every one in the audience knows the answer to that one.) They person may have mentioned Bones as the only example of a female genius in current and just off air media. (Sam Carter of SG1 does not count. She is Canon Sue. She's a hot blond, in the military, super scientist, geeky in the ways of things like star trek or star wars, but also capable of interacting in the real world like a completely normal human being. If it were a non-live action show she would have the figure of either a Barbie or classic comic book woman. Which is not to say that I don't like her, just that we should be open about what she is.) In fact the I think the person did mention Bones in making a comparison between here and Charlie Eppes (and maybe Spencer Reid?) Saying that Charlies eccentricities make him look cute, Bones make us question her childhood.
For the record if we weren't given so much info on Charlie (and Don's) childhood I would wonder about what happened in it just like I do Bones (I obviously haven't seen much yet so if they do talk about her childhood...Opps?) and I totally find Bones' eccentricities cute. But I can see that most people would wonder about Charlies childhood in a 'what happens to a boy geniuses' kind of way, while about Bones it would be a 'why isn't she normal' kind of way. I like that though. While I always want media portrayal of (insert oppressed group here) to be better then real live lets them have, I also appreciate showing real life difficulty (as much as a TV show can), and in real life it is difficult for women to be not normal, especially in a way that is having a prized-by-society skill.
One reason I can see liking Booth as much as I do Bones is that I can see him treating Bones the same way if she were a man, out side of the obvious to come UST. (Because Booth might be one of the few media characters that I see as 100% straight, no dude/dudette exception.)
So I'm really excite about Bones and hope that it hasn't jumped the shark already.

Jul. 10th, 2009 05:02 amThere is finally price listing on Amazon about the remaster CD's.
Happy Dance of Joy.
Now I just have to decide if the box set is worth an extra 50 bucks.
(also if I'm going to get both mono and stereo or just stereo.)
OMG BBBBBBBBBBBBeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaattttttttttlllllllllllllleeeeeeeessssssssssss.
Edited for Update: Now I don't have to decide between box set and individual CD's because Amazon dropped the price of the box set so it's only $7 above all the individual CD's. Now I just have to decide just stereo or both stereo and mono.

This Annoys Me, So I'm Going to Annoy You
Jul. 7th, 2009 04:34 amOk, So I have not watched Merlin yet. I tried to watch it and then something happened that made me mad so I stopped watching and today I was going to watch but then I started my loan app and got distracted. But I know the basics of the myth and what they changed.
So here's what's annoying me. I love Arthurian legend, but the Myth is centuries old if you don't change it up a little it's going to get stale. I love re-tellings, re-imaginings, re-whatever.
I haven't watched the show yet, but from what I've heard about it the show did a good job; so why is it every time I see someone talk about it they preface it with "They change the legend around, but...". Of course they changed something other wise what's the point in watching?
So please, please stop telling me that Merlin changed things about the legend as if that's a bad thing.
